Dennis Quaid is on Leno right now. He reminds of Jason Sudeikis. I kind of want to see Smart People, as it sounds like a stellar cast. Plus he and Thomas Hayden Church have nice facial hair in the movie! ::swoon::

I went to Starbucks today. Their new roast is okay. Definitely better than their previous roasts that I've had. Plus their new-old logo is much better than their old-new logo. Much more Seattle-like.

This weekend [16 Mar 2008|08:56pm]

This weekend was fantastic. First Pi Day, where I had Serious Pie with Christy and Shelly, and then tons o'pies at church w/friends. I love seeing people get together and celebrating living life (and eating pie). I hope that this can become a more common occurance, but not to the point of burnout. Perhaps once a month?

The next day (Saturday), my friends Pauline & Jon hosted a brunch at their place. A lot of people showed up, and we had tons of food! I helped make the waffles, and by "help" I mean make the batter from bisquik powder. I had a ton of fun and got to hang out with people I normally don't. Something that I've been challenging myself to do is build stronger relationships with people I don't know very well. I think yesterday was a good step forward.

I also played Smash Bros Brawl, and sucked. I am proud to say I didn't get last, but I didn't get first (or second) either. :P I usually end up playing as Link, because I don't really know how to use any other character.

Small group today was good! I heart my small group members. We each come from different backgrounds, but I love that we can still come together and share and be accepted and loved. ^_^ Yay!

This week will be crazy! I picked up more hours at work since one of my co-workers quit, and then we're having a store event. Plus there's the Seattle Easter Swing and salsa class. And then I leave for vacation! w00t!

Another goal: to start journalling on paper more. So bye.

Celebrate by going out and eating your favorite type of pie!

Me, I'm dining with Shelly & Christy at Serious Pie for lunch, and then a bunch of us are gathering at church for more pizza pie and pie!

[ mood | enthralled ]

I was at Hallmark yesterday looking for an anniversary card for my parents. They had the usual, and then they had some specialty ones. One of them read "For Niece and Husband," and another one "For Granddaughter and husband." For whatever reason, my mind construed that as, "Card-sender's husband hooked up with card-sender's niece/granddaughter?!? WTF?!?!?"

It seriously took me about two minutes to understand that it meant for card-sender's niece/granddaughter and her husband (not the card-sender's). D'oh.

But in my defense, it's probably because all the others said for wife to husband, and usually wife = card-sender in that case. Stupid Hallmark. At least I get a 10% discount for being a mall employee. Hmpmh.

And to note, my card was the biggest of all the cards my parents got. HAH. I win.

In other news:

Jamie Bamber from Battlestar Galactica and Adam Baldwin from Firefly, Serenity, and Chuck are going to be at the Emerald City Comic-Con!!!! I am so excited.

Apparently I like Tally Hall so much I dreamed that they were playing at the U.Bookstore but they only played one song so I only caught the tail end of it, and they were selling Tally Hall pencils, and they had what I thought was their CD but alas it wasn't. Then I walked with them to another place on campus that they were going to perform.

Finished at 750-piece puzzle of Times Square today with Steffie. Sushmita was supposed to help, but of course she just sat around and watched us, although she did contribute one piece.

Carlos, Benedict, Alan [24 Feb 2008|10:08pm]

Carlos reminds me of Javier Bardem because they both speak Spanish and are both quirky. And both have sported longer haircuts in the past, although Javier's is much more embarassing.

Sushiland was a lot of fun. And we had a lot of sushi. Especially my brother. He had a ton of unagi. That was pretty crazy.

I actually watched the Oscars this year. It was surprisingly "short" (3 hours) and I liked Diablo Cody and Hillary Swank's dresses. I did not like Katherine Heigel's dress and the way Jennifer Hudson's dress made her boobs look all saggy and weird (at least to me).

I want to see Be Kind, Rewind this Weds.

Most of the time when I dream, it's no big deal. Whatever. Sometimes, there's dreams where I'm like, "Huh, that was kind of weird," but can usually find a way to explain it. Then there's dreams like the one I had last night that throw me off a lot. Because it's so weird and crazy and almost plausible that I wonder where my brain threw in all of this together.

Basically, I dreamed that I was getting married. To a guy I used to like, but haven't spoken to in a long time. And that I didn't have a rehearsal, and that I had no idea what was going on because basically I just showed up with no recollection of ever planning the wedding and inviting people. This is the second time I've dreamed that I got married to someone I know/knew and me freaking out because I couldn't remember ever planning the wedding or preparing for it.

In other news, I am awesome. :D

Oh man Valentine's day was more fun that I thought it would be. A bunch of people came over and we played Rock Band and ate desserts from 8-11. It was awesome.

Rock Band is fun, and having Nathan constantly taunt me and challenge me is cool, because it makes me want to be a better virtual guitarist/bassist/drummer/bass pedal pusher.

I hope you had a great day too!

[ mood | weird ]

After salsa class tonight, I've realized that I am short. Well, I've known that all along, but it's so more glaringly obvious when you're dancing. I basically stare at guys's chests all evening, because eye-to-eye contact is awkward when I don't know the guy very well (or at all)(okay even when you know the guy very well constant eye-to-eye contact is creepy), and when I dance I shouldn't be staring at the floor. So, guys's chests it is.

I also realized that I keep trying to convince myself that the guys I meet look like celebrities. Like this one guy - reminds me of the lead actor from Journeyman. Another guy - reminds me of Will from Will and Grace. Another guy - totally a nicer, scruffier version of Zachary Quinto. Another guy - Ben Kweller. (Christy, if you read this - I wonder if you can figure who I'm talking about for each of these guys. You danced w/all of them that evening too). And there's this guy in the w.coast swing class that meets before us who looks like Cillian Murphy. I've connected Kurt from w.coast swing class with Kurt from Multiplex, just because they both have the same name and brown hair. :D Oh, and even though I haven't met him personally, Mitch Clem reminds me of James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem. The resemblances are usually way off, but my mind connects the two somehow.

Here's another drawing, of a boston terrier (one my favorite types of dogs), that is currently my facebook profile picture:

okay! so my last posts have been rather emo, and they're from so long ago. it's time to change that!

:)

I like to randomly doodle. I love my staedtler fineliner pens - they make drawing lots of fun. I finally got around to taking pictures of my drawings and thought I would share some! (the rest are on my flickr)

I want to tell her, You're being immature about the whole ordeal and I want to punch you in the face but I know that won't solve anything.

I like to speak my mind (as anyone who knows me will agree with), so it's hard for me to sit here and bit my tongue and sit on my hands when I think that she's being foolhardy.

I know it's not my place to say anything, which is frustrating as ever.

I loving listening to LCD Soundsystem because the lead singer enunciates like Zapp Brannigan from Futurama. For example he sings "Daft Punk is playing at my house, at my house-uh" (with the "uh" meaning he enunciates the last letter of the last word). Or "stop-uh." Fun times. Their new album is really fun to listen to. It's nice changing things up a little, indie music was getting a little to slow for me.

"I Won't Be Left" by Tegan and Sara is my personal empowerment song.

I won't mistake you for problems with me
I won't let my mood ruin this you'll see
I won't take everything good and throw it away
I won't be left dancing alone to songs from the past

Also, screaming out "Sometimes I'm bigger than the sound!!!" (Yeah Yeah Yeahs "Cheated Hearts") helps too.

I was reading UW's student-run newspaper The Daily (which is horrible journalism by the way, I was reading some of the op-ed pieces and it made me sad because they were so awful), and it tells you how many days of school are left. They said 5, but technically we only have 4 because we have no school on Monday. But still. 4! And then finals and then I'm graduated.

My mom is taking the whole "I'm not going back to school right away" very well. However, I know that my parents are expecting me to apply for grad school for the 2008-2009 academic year. She's already telling me that this summer I'm going to study for the GREs and she's going to do some intellectual self-improvement as well. We're also going to work out together so that I can look nice and cute as Shelly's bridesmaid. I'm really thankful for supportive parents, becuase otherwise living at home would suck majorly.

I update my Xanga more than I update here, so if you want to know my going ons, you can check that out. Or you can take a look at my Twitter or Facebook.

Hugs and kisses, Jen

hay there! (pt. dos)

so apparently some Canadian website asked rstevens for picktars of people wearing his totally awesome SECRET KISSES shirt and so I like totally sent him one (or three).

well, for whatever reason (insanity?) the website chose one of the ones I submitted. Except they totally cut my face out AND they happened to choose my least favorite of the three. :P anyway, so my armpits are famouse in Canada now! I am officially a model? The website sells clothing from fashion lines such as Juicy, so yay! I am so cool.

here it is if you want to check out my armpits in all of its glory:

http://www.sweetspot.ca/content/spotted.php

scroll down a little and you will see the photo. RAWR.

In other news, I went to the Seattle Courthouse today and it was interesting. First time there, so that was pretty cool. Everything is so official-like. Wowz! I wish I could have stayed around and stuff, but alas that wasn't what I was getting paid for. Maybe some other time. What was satisfying was seeing the past 2-3 week's worth of photocopying, organizing, reorganizing, labelling, numbering, and putting into binder-ing all nicely propped up on the table. And then hearing my boss say that most likely they won't use half of the exhibits because that's the nature of these trials. ::sigh:: Oh well.

I saw the opposing counsel on the way out, and she is not what I expected her to look like, probably because her name is so unique and she doesn't look all that unique (sorry).

I found my favorite type of iced tea! It's organic, jasmine green tea sweetened with natural cane sugar and a touch of lemon. The lady at the organic food place at work recognizes me now. I love their blueberry parfaits. Blueberries make me so happy. Doesn't matter if its by itself, in a yoghurt or parfait, or in a pie, it's so delicious and puts a smile on my face. :D

Time to reorg my room! Bye!

I am so ready for spring break. I can't wait to go to Cali and not have to worry about school. So many decisions to make right now, it's kind of overwhelming. However, it's good to know that I have friends and family to support and love me. :)

I never knew what hamsters sounded like until this past week. They sound like squeak toys. The babies are so precious! I wish I could keep them, but it's kind of nice for now because I get to play with them whenever I want but Cindy comes to clean them. (I'm hamstersitting for her while her apartment is being shown to people).

I feel bad for my bird. I wish someone who can actually take care of it could come and make it happy. I know nothing about birds, but I figured at least I feed it and clean its cage. ::sigh:: Poor birdie.

Yeah, so my apartment is an animal sanctuary right now. If you need a home for your pet, I guess it stay here too! :D

I love hanging out with my friends. Current mood is definitely lazy! I also want to update my teeshirt wardrobe. ^_^ Yay for having an income.

It's weird when I read Penny Arcade and they're talking about semi-personal experiences, and since I live in Bellevue/Seattle, I can kind of guess where they are talking about, and it's weird, since for all the other webcomics I read they all live far far away it's just different. Woah that was a long sentence. Yup. :)
